Black Keys Wish Granted
This weekend Ana had another wish granted thanks to Carolyn Chauncey of Townsquare Media (the company that runs Mountain Jam). I reached out to Carolyn many months ago when I heard that the Black Keys were playing at Mountain Jam this year (Hunter Mountain is only about 45 minutes away from us). I had worked on a project with her in 2014 which is how I knew her.
I explained that one of Ana’s wishes was to see the Black Keys in concert and was there a way they could provide (really good) tickets to make this wish happen for Ana? Carolyn responded immediately that she would take care of it.
And she did!
Carolyn and her colleague Katie Notarianni made sure we got four VIP tickets to Mountain Jam for Saturday (including VIP parking!) Jim took Ana and her cousin Chloe, but I was unable to go because Emily had a karate tournament in New Paltz.
With each wish granted, a new memory is made. Ana is able to experience things we couldn’t afford on our own – a trip to L.A., a brand new bedroom, an amazing visit to NYC to go ice skating and stay at a posh hotel, a front row seat to see a band she loves…
She looks forward to each event and she absolutely glows with happiness while she’s experiencing them. In these moments she is briefly unburdened. With each wish granted, cancer takes a back seat and life rushes forward. As her mother, that’s all I can possibly wish for. These moments are wrapped up and tucked away in our family’s collective memory – something we will cherish always.
Thank you Carolyn and Katie and thank you Townsquare Media. It was a perfect day.
