Well, it’s Wednesday and I think it’s time for all of us to snap out of it at the Dooley-House-of-Gloom. Emily seems almost fully recovered except for her cough and some excess fatigue. Ana’s fever broke yesterday morning and stayed gone, though she’s still sick-in-bed weak with very little appetite. I’m hoping today she’ll get some energy back. Jim and I have so far (knock on wood) managed to avoid catching this somehow – possibly because we both begged our doctors for Tamiflu first thing Monday morning. I mean, it’s not supposed to be a miracle drug but I’ve seen the flu before, I’ve HAD the flu, and it can be much worse.
The girls’ pediatrician said the flu is not as severe as in former years – it’s not lasting as long, the symptoms aren’t as bad, and there are less complications. So maybe this has nothing to do with Tamiflu, but I’m happy in any case.
Our trip has been officially rescheduled to the week of March 16th with minimal damage. The new plane tickets were an extra $85, and I’m still waiting for United to hopefully refund the donor’s money for the flight home. Plus, now I have an extra month to train on my bike and try to shed at least 5 pounds before the trip.
But enough about me. Ulster Savings Bank is currently having a contest for local nonprofits called Mid-Hudson Heroes. The charities with the most votes win one of three prizes (as much as $3000 for the #1 winner). Won’t you please vote for my favorite charity, Maddie’s Mark? This is the charity that’s redoing Ana’s room (and thus completely granting one entire wish). They have thought of everything, from closet redesign, to painting, to bringing a bona fide designer in on the project to ensure no detail gets left out. The least I can do is get them some votes! Click on the Mid-Hudson Heroes graphic below – it will take you directly to the voting page (you have to be logged into Facebook to vote). Then please share! (please?)
