Good Feelings, Gone
Here’s what’s going on.
- The CT scan is to get a better look at the lung nodules because they can’t really see them on the MRI. The doctors feel that these nodules are likely benign though. I hope a CT scan can answer this question…
- More concerning, the mass near her liver has grown in size from the last scan three months ago (Dr. Hocbherg told me it hadn’t, but…) It’s still small (about 1.4 cm), Dr. Martinez is concerned that this is a recurrence of the tumor.
So ana also needs an ultrasound which will tell them how close this mass is to her liver and if they can easily perform a needle biopsy on it (the ultrasound would happen on the same day as the CT Scan). I’m not clear if she’ll potentially get the biopsy at the same time as the ultrasound — probably not though since she’d need to have general anesthesia.
Worst case scenario — Dr. Kato (the transplant surgeon) may want to remove the abdominal mass and that would probably happen fairly soon.
I guess I’ll try not to worry about that until all the tests are back.
Taking deep breaths…
