I called the insurance company this morning and they told me that Westchester Medical is covered in our plan (CDPHP)! A liver transplant is also completely covered (but hopefully will not be necessary). To say I sobbed with relief is an understatement. The bad news is that we have a $9000 deductible and I’ve only met $700 of that this year. I had put some money away for taxes which we will likely pull on to cover these initial costs – but we owe a lot in taxes already from past years. Still, I am trying to stay hopeful and the fact that the hospital is in network is just such a relief.
Ana is in more pain this morning (just spoke with Jim – I’m still home). She just got more morphine and is watching The Hunger Games on her iPad. I plan to leave here at 2 p.m. for the hospital with a boat load of supplies to make our stay a little more comfortable (like instant coffee). I am hoping Jim will come home tonight and hang out with Emily and get some rest. No news about Ana’s tests yet, but the pediatrician is putting her on a nutritional supplement because her weight is so low.
