Ana starts radiation on Monday. I know this treatment is going to be really hard for her – not physically since there are (supposedly) almost no side effects associated with this type of radiation. But it’s a big psychological blow for Ana to have to stop her life short for treatment yet again.
She spent all of last week catching up on school work and making sure she didn’t miss a single day of school even though she was fighting a cold. It’s been an exhausting, tension-filled week for her (and, by extension, for us). One big help has been the arrival of home cooked meals starting with Erica’s bag of goodies on Tuesday, followed by homemade pesto (Ana’s favorite) by my friend Randi, and yesterday Liz Appleson brought over more delicious food including Matzo ball soup (my favorite).
The meals help us in so many ways, but most of all they are a tangible manifestation of everyone’s care and concern for our family. We need it right now. We are all so tired. We’ve received more gift cards and well wishes in the mail this past week too – thank you all – for everything.
