Update as of July 2015
As of 8/5/15 The blog is now password protected, but still technically offline. Please don’t share posts. I switched it to password protected (as opposed to being completely offline) so some special people who don’t use Facebook can still be updated.

Ana had a CT scan today and there is new progression of her cancer. Several lung tumors have gotten larger (two are about 1 cm larger) and some of the smaller “rice-sized” tumors looked bigger too. She has at least ten confirmed tumors in EACH lung. Additionally, the tumor near (or on) her liver has gotten larger. Dr. Yamashiro will be circling back with all the experts (surgeon, hepatologist, radiation oncologist) and presenting some options for next steps in terms of treatment next week. It does look like the medication she’s been on since January has become less effective and he may start her on something in the same class, but a different drug.
Ana is, understandably, devastated. We all are. This has been a long, long, long journey with there’s no apparent end in sight. And now Ana is feeling a little hopeless. Today she looked at me and asked, “Will the tumors keep growing until my lungs are gone?” And all I could say was that I just don’t know. I wish I had better news. It could have been worse news though – so there’s that! One day at a time…
